altlbyn

Origin of the name
It is a drink/food made from barley flour (finely ground or crushed) cooked with water or milk, usually sweetened with honey or dates. It is named so because its consistency resembles yogurt in its whiteness and smoothness. Origin of the Name and Hadith: It is mentioned in a hadith that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Talbina soothes the heart of the sick and removes some of the sadness" (Bukhari and Muslim). Meaning: It soothes the heart and relieves worry. Traditional Preparation Method: Boil a cup of water or milk. Add two tablespoons of barley flour or ground barley. Simmer over low heat until it reaches a soup-like consistency. Sweeten with honey or dates, if desired. Health Benefits of Talbina: Rich in soluble fiber → Aids digestion and relieves constipation. Contributes to lowering cholesterol. It helps calm the nerves and relieve anxiety and sadness (according to the Sunnah and proven by some psychiatrists). It's a source of vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and iron. It's beneficial for diabetics (if not sweetened with sugar).
