Preparing a child before school does not only mean teaching them to read and write, but also building basic skills that help them learn and integrate with confidence. These skills can be divided into several areas: First: Cognitive Skills Recognizing colors, shapes, and sizes Basic counting (up to 10, for example) Distinguishing between letters and sounds without straining to read Solving simple problems (assembling puzzles, sorting) Second: Language Skills Expressing needs and feelings verbally Listening and paying attention when spoken to Forming simple and clear sentences Enjoying stories and asking questions about them Third: Social and Emotional Skills Sharing toys with others Waiting their turn Respecting basic rules Recognizing and expressing emotions (joy, sadness, anger) appropriately Being independent from parents for short periods without excessive anxiety Fourth: Motor Skills Gross Motor Skills: Running, jumping, balancing Fine Motor Skills: Holding a pencil Cutting with safety scissors Coloring within simple lines Fifth: Self-Reliance Skills Using the toilet independently Washing hands Eating Self-reliance Dressing and undressing simple clothes Tidying up toys after finishing Most importantly: Feeling safe and confident Loving to learn and not being afraid of making mistakes A positive relationship with parents based on encouragement, not comparison A child who is psychologically and socially prepared will succeed academically later on than a child who knows the alphabet but is anxious or lacks independence.
