Life, however, is relentless, and she finds herself again in the hands of her maternal cousin, a fanatical and sexually obsessed Salafi sheikh. Nawal El Saadawi is an internationally renowned Egyptian writer and a human rights advocate, especially for women's rights. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine - Cairo University. In 1955, she worked as an intern at Qasr El Aini Hospital but was dismissed due to her opinions and writings. She contributed over 40 books to the Arabic library, translated into 30 languages. Her novel 'The Fall of the Imam,' published by Dar Al Saqi, has been translated into 14 languages, as well as 'Love in the Time of Oil.'
