The Zamia (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is native to East Africa and shares traits with ferns, cycads, and succulents. Its stalk is upright, bearing dark green leaves. It rarely flowers outside its natural habitat but produces white and green flowers at home.
Ideal for beginners or those seeking low-maintenance indoor plants, the Zamia is robust and adaptable to various environments, commonly used in homes and workplaces to enhance aesthetic appeal with minimal care.
Care for Zamia Plant
Thrives in shaded areas with bright, filtered light away from direct sunlight. Suitable for dimly lit spaces like bedrooms. It tolerates temperatures from 15 to 18°C and can withstand up to 35°C indoors. Highly drought-tolerant but avoid prolonged dryness to prevent stem weakening and leaf drop. Water lightly once soil is dry. Fertilize monthly during summer. Can grow up to 120 cm tall.
Propagation of Zamia
Propagate easily by dividing the plant into sections, especially as it matures. Leaf cuttings can also root and grow a new plant, though this method is very slow.
