The Iraqi novelist and poet Sinan Antoon in his third novel addresses the complex questions faced by minorities in contemporary Iraq. Through the narrative of Youssef, who refuses to emigrate and leave the house he built, and Maha, who finds herself a migrant within her own country and is waiting for her papers to leave Iraq permanently, he explores the pains of the Iraqi people and raises questions about the past and present, between memory and the current state.
