"Defenders of Human Rights Demanding Justice" presents a colorful spectrum of inspiring heroes, both current and future, from more than 35 countries across all continents. In stirring and enthusiastic interviews conducted by human rights activist Kerry Kennedy, the most pressing human rights issues around the world are raised with those on the front lines: from freedom of expression to children in war, from environmental activism to the right of religious choice, and from minority rights to sexual slavery.

These interviews are accompanied by a powerful series of photographs of these fifty extraordinary individuals by world-renowned photographer Eddie Adams, winner of more than 500 photography awards, including a Pulitzer Prize.

The release of "Voices that Changed the World" was accompanied by the opening of a major exhibition in September at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and in January at the Newseum in New York, which then toured nationally. On September 19, 2000, a play written by novelist, playwright, and former political prisoner Ariel Dorfman opened at the J.F. Kennedy Center in Washington. It was directed by the famous stage and film director Gregory Mosher and starred world-renowned actors.
