This study, which addresses visual connotation in modern poetry, is an attempt to explore the points of contact and conflict between language and the pressure of poetic memory on one hand, and the nuances life suggests to language on the other. Language often challenges and subverts the conventional, breaking free to achieve a level of performance that enriches the poem's effectiveness and enlivens it with surprises and variations in poetic expression. These readings focus on the following points: the poetics of absurdity and satire, the dialogue of poetic texts, the elegy of a fading friendship, visual connotation, and the narrative of the poetic text.
