In the collection, 'Untitled,' a soul writes its wandering with the fragrance of jasmine that once stepped through paths of love, filled with joy and ecstasy. This wandering is not confusion or loss, but rather a wandering that knows its purpose. In Rania Mourani's first collection, 'Steps of Jasmine,' the scent blossomed with innocent wonder. In her new collection, the jasmine petals have become wings, and the fragrance knows its final destination, like a bee hiding the secrets of honey in wild paths: its final destination is the hearts of lovers, souls washed with the elixir of life, which is love; to them, it flies with jasmine wings, not with the innocence of wonder now, but with the wonder of the knowledgeable. 'And I remained in your land a stranger / A wandering spirit without a title / My bag filled with flowers / Collected from a thousand dreams / Colored by a thousand springs / I gifted you the strings of my heart as a homeland / And I remained in your land a stray song.' And in the land of denial, that soul decides to shed the fragrance of love. But it is like tearing its skin with its nails, for love is the manifestation of light and the robe of the knowledgeable, longing to return to its original homeland again, to itself, like a fragrance returning in spring to fallen flower petals made a field's pillow by autumn. 'In secret, I once swore to abandon spring / Defied my heart / Removed the robe of fragrance / Erased all colors / Departed into a grey exile / The night of absence deprived me of stars / I became without a title / Joy neglected me / For I am a disobedient soul / And when I yearned for my fragrance / My oath freed me / Whispered to my regret, a new spring awaits you: The god of jasmine watched over you / Here I am, walking with fiery longing / Ah! How sweet to return to myself.' In 'Untitled,' a soul knows its address well: its birthplace is love, where it became the sound of steps and wings of longing: 'From the homeland of love, I am / My fragrance is the nectar of hopes / My eyeliner inscribed by a passionate butterfly / My lips colored by a rainbow / My country is far / We reach it on angels' wings.' Accompanying the lover's silence in poet Rania Mourani's work is the brushstroke of painter Rania Awada, giving color to words that have embraced the beautiful wandering in a secluded sanctuary, painting processions of basil as a 'tunnel' of joy, ending in: the flame of love.
