His family decided to send him abroad for his university education, so he traveled to Australia. There, fate had him fall deeply in love with Sontia, an Indian of another faith (Buddhism). Can this love endure, especially when Sontia learns of his Arab and Muslim background, associating Arabs with terrorism and violence due to Western media portrayals? Ziad tries to convince her that Arabs contributed to building human civilization, that without their sciences, and those of others, space exploration wouldn't be possible, and that a culture involved in building civilization cannot be a proponent of terrorism. His relationship with Sontia becomes strained, leading him to return to his homeland, Lebanon, where he reignites his love with Souad. He reconciles with his new reality but faces rejection once more due to differences in sects. The events unfold, and he reunites with his first love, Sontia.
