Securities are considered one of the most prominent investment tools in our time due to the advantages they offer investors that are not available in other investment tools. They are also the lifeblood of stock markets, being the only commodity traded in them. Stock markets constitute an important mechanism for collecting, directing, and employing financial resources in large projects through the acquisition of securities issued by these markets by individuals, companies, and institutions.

Securities are diverse nowadays, thanks to the great flexibility of financial markets which allows for the diversification of investment tools, including securities. Examples of the latter include stocks, bonds, foundation shares, investment documents, and others. There is no doubt that this diversification in securities is an attractive element for the cash surpluses of savers, which in turn leads to a kind of competition among issuing entities, ultimately satisfying the desires of investors.

One of the most important characteristics of securities is their tradability. A security loses its essence if the characteristic of tradability is absent. Furthermore, the tradability of a security is the main incentive for participating in joint-stock companies; indeed, trading is the most accepted criterion for distinguishing between partnerships and corporations.

The word "tadaawul" (trading) comes from the root (d-w-l), which means (succession in money and war) and (we deliberated the matter... meaning consultation on the matter... and the days turned, meaning they revolved, and God alternates them among people), and the hands traded the thing, meaning this one took it once and that one another time. Legally, trading means the transfer of funds and rights related to the thing from one hand to another by sale or purchase, or by all other legal actions such as gifts, wills, inheritance, endowments, transfers, mortgages, seizures, freezes, and any other action permitted by law.
