I do not hide another goal, the success of which I cannot gauge: to offer a narrative that becomes a reasoned testimony of how one—in this case, myself—arrives at the position they have reached. It might then seem that personal journeys involve a level of seriousness and struggle overlooked by the swift, common accusations directed at the stances and opinions of others. Above all, there is a yearning for a writing exercise not always available to me, though it is always closest to my heart. Here, I fulfill this yearning. Finally, it is not a biography because I do not believe my life is complete, nor do I claim my moods have settled, especially as the narrative concludes before I reach my forties.
