"This Day in History" was a daily newspaper column written by Najdat Fathi Safwat over five years, covering a significant historical event or the biography of a historical figure for each day of the year. In this third volume, we read about Saladin Al-Ayyubi, Joseph Stalin, the departure of the last Ottoman Caliph from the capital, the patenting of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell, the 1919 revolution in Egypt, and the death of Karl Marx. The book revisits the great battles of Badr and Uhud, moves to the famous "Operation Cicero," and captures the rumblings of World War II in Europe, along with dozens of other events that shaped the course of history.

This work consists of 12 volumes, to be released sequentially.

About the Author:

Najdat Fathi Safwat (1923–2013) was an Iraqi diplomat and writer. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Baghdad and continued his studies at the University of London. He authored hundreds of articles and studies in various Arab newspapers and magazines in Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, and Britain.
