This book strongly expresses two main aspects of the Moroccan critical movement: First, the relevance of the critical perspective it presents is evident in the way it formulates critical sentences that model a specific kind of argument based on logical progression. This is particularly true in the development of theoretical concepts celebrated by the book and in its focus on the dynamic aspect of (function) that plays an active role in the component (description), which is essential in every form of expression possible, whether imaginative, abstract, or ordinary communicative. It also demonstrates this through scientific analysis that is both rigorous and free from dry strictness, rejecting haphazard generalizations and evaluations often tempted by the field of narration. Second, the book calls for linking the ideas and discussions it contains, along with the conceptual structures, to future studies and research by Abdellatif Mahfoud in the 1990s within the scientific circles of the Narrative Laboratory or in conferences and seminars inside and outside Morocco. This connection extends to what we will read from him in journals and websites, as well as in his latest works 'Mechanisms of Producing the Novelistic Discourse - Towards a Semiotic Concept' and 'Meaning and Production Hypotheses', where he highlights the significance of this book in explaining the background of his current critical orientations and shedding much light on the ambiguous aspects of his works.
