There is nothing more powerful than debt in humiliating people; it is a worry by night and a disgrace by day. And there is nothing more powerful than poverty in establishing or shattering their principles. I know how much my brothers love me, and I know that in that moment they saw Omar as the prince who would pull me out of poverty, thinking I don't know my own best interest and that they know it better than I do. But they have no right to sell me without my knowledge or consent, neither in religion nor in custom…
If justice were to prevail strongly and every person received their rights, security and peace would abound, and there would be no need to bear arms. If people were preoccupied with knowledge and work to live a good life, rebellion and killing would not have emerged. But their preoccupation with killing and seizing rights only creates a rebellious generation. Because life has become harsher and without value, it no longer means anything to them... No peace without security, and no security without justice.
