"The Quranic Stories" presents a new and scientific analysis of the prophets' stories. In this second part, the author continues along the path of prophethoods to explore the accumulation of prophetic knowledge, how man discovered fire and the burial of the dead, and how he learned from Noah to traverse water barriers, from Shuaib to uphold fairness in weights and measures, and from Joseph to store harvests from bountiful seasons for times of famine. He also traces the path of divine messages to show how laws diversified and evolved from strict edicts to more flexible boundaries, with a clear inclination towards simplification and leniency; and how rituals differed in their devotional forms. Fasting, once absolute silence, became abstention from food, drink, and intimacy, and the avoidance of indecent speech. Prayer, initially a supplication and remembrance, took on a ritualistic form of standing, sitting, bowing, and prostrating, requiring deep reverence.

Muhammad Shahrour is a Syrian researcher and thinker with a PhD in Civil Engineering. He began studying the Quran in 1970 and is now considered a primary reference in Quranic sciences, having established a new, scientific approach to its understanding. His works include "The State and Society," "Islam and Faith – The Value System," "Towards New Foundations for Islamic Jurisprudence," "Drying Up the Sources of Terrorism," and in English, "The Quran, Morality & Critical Reason." Dar Al Saqi has also published his "The Quranic Stories: Volume One" and "The Book and the Quran: A New Vision."
