In this work, Mr. Muadh bin Suleiman Al-Dakheel aimed to demonstrate that the meanings in Arabic syntactical theory resemble the concept of speech acts as outlined in the pragmatic theory known by Austin and Searle. This hypothesis allowed him to rediscover the coherence of the old theory and relate the science of meanings to the science of syntax. He convincingly showed in detail that meanings of speech are the core thread of grammar and the unifying element for what seems scattered or odd phenomena in Arabic. By doing so, he completed the refutation of views that prevailed for a long period in the Arab scientific arena, which had criticized the theory of factors and considered getting rid of it necessary for studying styles of speech and their meanings. One of the notable achievements of the work is that these results were reached by relying on linguistics.
