Whoever understands modernity as a rejection of the past has not read the past itself as an event of creation. This creation was confined within norms and referential frameworks that wronged reason and imagination, shutting them down and wanting them to be followers, not creators. The poetics of event creation lies in this coming that never ceases to come, in the astonishment that characterizes writing and poetry. In its process, it creates its separation just as it creates its rupture in its connection. There are no definitive, final ruptures, nor beginnings from a void. In poetry, the beginning means coming from the future, from this dense ambiguity, and from what constitutes a breakthrough and a discovery. This is what we call the 'other poetry,' the poetry of experiences, of poetic selves, or what makes the 'self possible,' as Alain Badiou says. It does not mortgage itself to what was, because it seeks difference and adventure. To be itself, not a machine, or something that leans on crutches, sticks, and shadows. From this angle, we have seen modernity and event creation, and we have contemplated and written poetry—that other poetry which remains in the process of coming, which is the path, with all the roads and bifurcations it contains, not to be a framework and a law valid for all experiences and generations, for all languages, places, styles, and ways of writing and imagining, as if it were the sky above our heads, from whose blueness we cannot escape.
