No one knows why he was nicknamed 'The Last One'. It's as if this title was given to him since… what can I say? Truly, no one knows why he was called 'The Last One'. His father says the nickname stuck because he was the last of his siblings to be born, but his mother denies this, insisting that her father gave him the nickname 'The Last One' while he was still in her womb. His grandfather nicknamed him 'The Last One' for reasons related to planting and harvesting, as she used to say. Someone, a retired fisherman, used to say the boy was nicknamed 'The Last One' for reasons related to the sea, as he would take him along on his fishing trips from time to time. However, the sea is not the real reason for his nickname, as there was a burly, hoarse-voiced bakery owner who would repeat that he was nicknamed 'The Last One' for reasons related to bread and dough. 'The Last One' would intentionally go to the bakery daily and interact with the dough and the bread there. … But neither the bread nor the sea provided complete conviction regarding the nickname 'The Last One'.
