At first glance, the reader might think that the poet has written his autobiography in verse. However, upon reading the poems, we discover from the diversity of their themes and dates that what it contains is the biography of the poems, not the poet. There are poems dating back to 1963 and others to 2001, arranged in the collection in a non-chronological sequence. Although he left Iraq thirty years ago or more, most of the poems were written there, as if his years of exile distanced him from poetry as well, not just from publishing it.
