The Invisible Man is a science fiction novel by H.G. Wells, published in 1897. Originally serialized in Pearson's Weekly, it was released as a novel in the same year. The story revolves around Griffin, a scientist dedicated to optics research who invents a way to change a body's refractive index to that of air, causing it to neither absorb nor reflect light and thus become invisible. He succeeds in the experiment on himself but fails to reverse the effect.
