An epic poem narrating the story of the Trojan War, considered along with the Odyssey as the most important Greek epic poem by the blind poet Homer, whose existence or singular authorship is questioned. The epic dates back to the 9th or 8th century BC and is a poetic text.

It is said that he wrote it along with his epic, the Odyssey. The poems were compiled around 700 BC.
