This study is distinguished by dedicating an independent space to symbolism in the poetry of Hamza Shehata (1908-1972). An observer of the contemporary literary movement finds that Shehata represents a model that testifies to the positive transformation reflected in the Saudi cultural scene in its early stages. His literary output was diverse, spanning poetry, essays, lectures, critical visions, letters, and prose fragments. This testimony is not based on the sheer quantity of his production, but on its qualitative features, evidenced by a clear inclination towards originality of vision and novelty of method in the pursuit of reform and a social renaissance that bridges the gap between reality and duty.
