The Book of Lands by the scholar Abu Abdullah Ahmed bin Ishaq al-Hamadhani (known as Ibn al-Faqih) encompasses a range of accounts about various lands, wonders of the universe and structures in Iraq and Basra. It narrates the stories of regions opening, the time of their constructions, their marvels, tales from Ubulla, Wasit, the Nabataeans, and Khawz. It discusses Baghdad, the districts of the Tigris, taxations of the world, and what was sent to the Sultan's treasury from one place to another. The discourse includes Ahvaz, Fars and its cities, Qarmisin, and the stories of Shibriz and Hamadhan with their wonders, Nahavand, Isfahan, Qom, and their marvels, also the Maghreb, Levant, Damascus, and Yemen. There are insights on the Turks, their stories, tribes, and practices. The content is gathered from various sources, some written like the Book of the History of China and India and the Animal by Al-Jahiz, and the Conquests of the Lands. Others are narrated from scholars such as Abu Yusuf Ya'qub bin Ishaq, Abu Hamid bin Ja'far al-Mustamli, and others.
