Dr. Suleiman, in his usual appearance, wearing a black cloak and holding a rosary, appears like a black ghost surrounded by a cloud of black smoke. The flames are clearly visible in his eyes. His hands slowly approach his neck as if to strangle him, suddenly surprising everyone with the black cat behind the furniture destroyed by fire in the hall. Everyone gasps at the sight of it, and its eyes suddenly changing from green to yellow. The cat runs and jumps out the hall window, leaving no trace on the ground.

The novel takes place in a residential building in the Maadi area of Cairo. Several mysterious fires occur, with neighbors accusing each other. With each fire, a black cat with frightening eyes appears amidst the flames and disappears without a trace.
