The Brazilian writer and novelist Jorge Amado is regarded as one of Brazil's most significant authors, and indeed, one of the most renowned in Latin America and the world. Amado was born in Bahia, Brazil, in 1912 and passed away there in 2001. Throughout his lengthy and eventful life, he was involved in politics, literature, and party struggles, experiencing exile and imprisonment, yet he remained devoted to writing, dedicating himself to it until his death.
