Edmond Saab, born in 1940 in Maalaka, Zahle, Bekaa, completed his secondary education at the Eastern College in Zahle. He left school early to work and during that time obtained two baccalaureate degrees. In 1965, he joined Saint Joseph University to study law and started working at the An-Nahar newspaper in the same year, managing correction by night while studying by day. He received law degrees from the University of Lyon in France and from Saint Joseph University in Lebanon. Over 45 years at An-Nahar, he held multiple roles, including Head of the Youth and Student Section, Local Section Editor, Deputy Editor, Head of the Economic and Financial Section, and Editor-in-Chief of the supplement by the same name, then Managing Editor of An-Nahar Arab and International, launched in 1978 in Paris. In 1985, he managed Dar An-Nahar for book publishing. He was Editor-in-Chief of Al-Mukhtar magazine from Reader’s Digest from 1978 until 1993, then returned to An-Nahar as Executive Editor and remained until his retirement at the end of 2009. He diligently wrote a weekly opinion piece in An-Nahar for about 15 years before Talal Salman invited him to write a weekly political article on the front page of As-Safir.
