Sunan Abi Dawood is one of the six major hadith collections (Kutub al-Sittah) and one of the four Sunan, holding a high status among Sunnis as it is considered one of the primary sources of hadith. It ranks in status after the two Sahihs (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim). Compiled by Imam Abu Dawood Sulayman al-Sijistani (202 AH – 817 CE / 275 AH – 888 CE), this book gathers a collection of hadiths, reaching a total of 5,274, which he selected from five hundred thousand hadiths.
