Some of the issues facing the Islamic world today trace back to the 19th century when the Ottoman Empire, as the only part of the Islamic world not yet colonized by European powers, found itself amidst major power competition for new markets and resources.

Due to his efforts in pursuing a global strategy for the Islamic community, Sultan Abdulhamid II emerged as the most controversial figure among the Ottoman sultans, inciting many negative and derogatory studies.

In recent decades, biased writings about Sultan Abdulhamid and Islamic community policies have been increasingly replaced by balanced studies, showcasing a more realistic picture of the Sultan and developments during his reign.

The Sultan endeavored to save the Ottoman Empire from collapse. Thus, I believe this book will add a fresh perspective to the existing studies on Sultan Abdulhamid, the Islamic community, and the contemporary history of the Islamic world, utilizing unpublished sources in English, Arabic, and Turkish.
