Introduction by Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Tayalani:

The impressions imprinted on my mind of Dr. Shadia Hamed's ability, her engagement with Sufi documents and sources, and her knowledge of their intricacies and secrets inspired me to share her expertise with pioneers of Sufi poetry. I had the honor of reviewing her doctoral thesis from a prestigious European university on the subject of traditional Sufi symbolism in the poetics of Mohammed Al-Fayturi. It was an opportunity to appreciate the efforts she put into this serious research. Since the topic deals with aspects of Sufi poetry—a subject at the core of my own interests—I eagerly began reading the thesis and did not stop until I had absorbed everything in it. Through my reading, I noticed that Dr. Shadia Hamed's style is modern and engaging, coupled with a rigorous scientific methodology. Its content is rich and profound, captivating the reader and compelling them to continue.

This same praise applies to her book, Sufi Time in the Poetics of Mohammed Ali Al-Rabbawi, where Dr. Shadia Hamed has excelled in her choice to delve into and value the concept of Sufi time in poetry—a relatively unexplored topic—by focusing on one of the greatest contemporary Moroccan poets, the quintessential Sufi poet, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Rabbawi.

Dr. Shadia has succeeded in entering this gnostic field of knowledge at the level of poetic texts, which enabled her to encompass the rare manuscripts and Sufi sources she frequently consulted in archives and libraries in Palestine, Morocco, European countries, and elsewhere. It must be noted here that the expansion of the revival of Sufi poetry, and the strength of the efforts required in this direction, both vertically and horizontally, are of such a scale and grandeur that any individual or collective contribution is like an atom or a small part in building a towering edifice. This necessitates a synergy of efforts and a multitude of contributions and initiatives, which is not beyond great ambitions. In such matters, let the competitors compete...
