The origin of this book, "Studies in the Inimitability of the Quran," is a collection of lectures on the subject of the 'Inimitability of the Quran' delivered by Dr. Mustafa Muslim to students in the Department of Quran and its Sciences at the College of Usul al-Din, Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh. The curriculum's topics were closely related to the content of his doctoral dissertation, titled "The Inimitability of the Quran," which he submitted to the College of Usul al-Din at Al-Azhar University. He utilized his dissertation's content to develop sections for the prescribed course.

The first section of the book covers the definition of a miracle and how it signifies the truthfulness of a messenger, the miracles of previous prophets and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the concept of inimitability according to the Mu'tazilites versus Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, and contemporary studies on the Quran's inimitability.

The second section addresses the thematic aspects of the Quran's inimitability, exploring the linguistic and rhetorical inimitability, the scientific (empirical) inimitability, and the inimitability related to the unseen (ghayb), and how foretelling the unseen points to the Quran's divine source.
