"Literature is the outcome of selecting beautiful and explicit words from the linguistic repertoire to depict and express existence, while criticism is the standard to which this selection is subjected to its conditions and criteria. Whenever literature deviates from the foundations of beautiful and clear expression, criticism intervenes to guide and direct it. And whenever criticism is absent and fails in its role and tasks, chaos prevails in the choice of words and their use to express existence, the universe, and thought. Criticism is a sign of existence. Perhaps 'I criticize, I am criticized, therefore I am,' or in the words of Elbert Hubbard, 'To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.' You might not even exist in the first place, as existence is what prompts questioning; questioning is an existential value, existence is built on questions, and questions drive research. When research is based on questions, its pursuer does not stumble in the dark; they do not accept everything, nor does it encompass everything. They must distinguish, judge, issue rulings, and practice criticism.

This book contains eight research papers on literature (poetry and prose), language, criticism, discourse, and terminology, contributing to highlighting the relationship between these components as pillars of what we have previously mentioned: existence, language, literature, and criticism."
