This book sheds light on the trends of contemporary Arabic poetry by studying the elite of our poets in Arab countries and in the American diaspora. It is a study that seeks accuracy and clarity of meaning by arranging correct premises to arrive at sound literary opinions and judgments. The book also proves that the connection is not broken between the trends of our contemporary poetry and the components of our inherited poetry. Our poets, while embodying models of Western poetry and renewing their own poetry in form and subject, feel the depth of their ancestors, just as they feel themselves, their environments, and their era, even in the distant American diaspora. The poets there, with their strong inclination towards renewal, emanate from the spirit of the Arabs, the East, and our high ideals.
