This new Arabic book addresses the topic of "Spirituality in Business." As specialists in this field know, the recent period has witnessed a growing interest in spirituality as the new latent source of energy and capabilities that inspire individuals with purpose, motivate them with significance, strengthen their morale with spiritual values, and enhance self-confidence and their position at work through transcendence and a unique personal way of thinking and acting. It is emphasized that spirituality is not necessarily religious; in thought and practice, it can be either religious or non-religious, i.e., rational. This means that Spirituality is one thing, and Religion is another. However, it is affirmed that spirituality is nourished by religion in every culture and society on one hand, and can be religious spirituality—meaning there is Islamic, Christian, Jewish, and Confucian spirituality—on the other. Since business is the most vital economic and administrative force in modern economies, it continuously seeks sources of effectiveness and efficiency. Therefore, in recent decades, we have seen an endless stream of theories, strategies, concepts, and new methods such as Total Quality Management, Re-engineering, Benchmarking, Managerial Empowerment, Intellectual Capital, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Six Sigma, and many others. Although many of these concepts played a revolutionary role in developing business effectiveness and efficiency and still do, many were also fads, like a fashion that appears, captivates people in its field, and then fades away, leaving nothing but the admission that it was an unsustainable fad. With spirituality, this experience with new concepts and methods might be recalled to say that spirituality is not new in human life, as all religions came to meet real human needs—the Spiritual Needs that Abraham Maslow added to his hierarchy of needs in his later days.
