She squeezed the shawl in her hand, turning around like someone lost, `Where are you, Maryam?` She ran in the opposite direction, her eyes searching for anything, a sign, even just an abandoned dry plank at the edge of the empty road, except for the cawing of crows. She ran, deafening her ears, far off her steps wandered. She felt the road was endless, planted with eyes, those eyes followed her, grew everywhere, and hands, hands of earth, tried to grasp her. She ran with eyes closed, without stopping, then stumbled, attempting to rise, unable, her strength sapped, those eyes overcame her until one entered her.
