"Al-Shafiya" is one of the important books written by Ibn al-Hajib in the sciences of morphology (Sarf) and orthography (Imla'), composed in a concise style. Al-Radi al-Astarabadi undertook its commentary in an expanded and detailed manner. The margins include an explanation of its poetic verses by the scholar Abd al-Qadir al-Baghdadi, and the final volume contains the commentary on the verses of "Al-Kafiya," also by al-Baghdadi. The editors have added annotations to the book to clarify difficult expressions, vocalized unfamiliar words, and placed an index of topics at the beginning of each part.
