Scientism: The Atheistic Ideologization of Science in the Balance.
Scientism is a doctrine whose name is attributed to science, seeking to color everything with the language of laboratories, observatories, and microscopes. In the literature of the new atheism movement, it has been elevated above the truths of reason and the tenets of religion, with no voice to challenge its authority. Thus, scientism is more than a declaration of the honor of scientific knowledge; it is, in fact, a declaration of experimental imperialism. It calls for science to monopolize the scales of judgment after mapping the entire landscape of existence with a pen that knows only the dimensions of length, width, depth, and the measurement of motion.
For a conscious understanding of scientism, this book studies the term linguistically and idiomatically, delves into its philosophical history, and deconstructs it. It clarifies that scientism is not synonymous with natural science, nor does it necessarily lead to enlightenment. Rather, it is a specific worldview concerning humanity and its values, reality and its nature, and horizons and their extensions. The book highlights the ideological use of natural science and its successes by proponents of scientism, harnessing it all to serve atheism, claiming that science is synonymous with secularism or irreligion. As such, this book is a pioneering work in its field in the Arab library, examining scientism as a creed and not limiting the debate to the conflict between sacred texts and certain claims of scientific discovery, as is the traditional approach in the East and West regarding the relationship of science.
