The swift changes in the Arab world are neither chaotic nor confused. Behind these transformations stand rising forces possessing a sense of advancement and a will for change. These changes are also accompanied by a culture aiming to establish democratic structures not based on submission to centralized authority. The book discusses the dilemma faced by the so-called 'Axis of Resistance' due to its contradictory positions on Arab people's uprisings. It begins with the premise that these uprisings arose against the oppression of regimes, analyzing the nature of these regimes and the popular unrest leading to the Arab revolts. It also examines Syria's regional role as a strategic mediator, exploring the origins of the 'resistance' concept and its slogans. The discussion further extends to the rising Russian influence in recent years, the increased Iranian presence in regional crises, and the impact of all this on Lebanon, which has been suffering from a systemic crisis since before the civil war and the consequences of Taif. The author suggests that this crisis has worsened, threatening the very idea of 'Lebanese nationality' and shaking the already fragile foundations of Lebanese democracy.
