The science of Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) deals with the Sharia rulings derived from the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, presenting them without discussion. Comparative Fiqh, on the other hand, focuses on presenting and comparing the various viewpoints related to the legal evidence and rulings.
Comparative Fiqh is also known as the science of jurisprudential differences ('Ilm al-Khilaf), specializing in the study of issues where jurists' rulings differ due to varying interpretations of the texts or legal evidence.
This field examines all jurisprudential schools (madhahib) and the disputed issues among Sharia jurists, imams, and researchers to arrive at the most preponderant opinion.
