This book, "Qur'anic Reflections," is not a book of tafsir (exegesis), nor does it aim to explain the verses of the Qur'an in detail. For that, one should refer to the major books of tafsir, such as the works of al-Tabari, Ibn Kathir, and others that fill our Islamic library. Instead, the idea and goal of this book are different.
The idea for this book has been with the author for ten years, specifically during Ramadan each year when Muslims around the world turn to reading and completing the Qur'an. He was saddened to see this sincere desire to read the Qur'an without a clear understanding of the objectives of each surah (chapter), its context of revelation, and the message it conveys. As a result, many people read the Qur'an while feeling that its meanings are foreign to them, sometimes even viewing them as incomprehensible talismans to be recited without grasping their significance.
Some might understand the meanings of the words in the verses but feel that the verses within each surah are scattered and unrelated, lacking a single unifying theme. From here, the idea was born: to undertake a modest effort to break the barriers between the youth of our community and the book of Allah.
This book affirms to the reader that the connection between the verses of each surah is strong, and that every surah has one central theme and specific objectives. While the verses of a surah might initially seem disjointed, with careful consideration of its goal and subject, you will discover that its verses are wonderfully interconnected. This realization powerfully leads you to grasp the surah's objective, increasing your love for the book of Allah and your faith in it as a revelation from a Wise, All-Knowing source (And if it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction). Thus, each surah of the Qur'an is an integrated unit that achieves a clear goal, with every verse serving this purpose. It must be emphasized that this book is not a tafsir; it is an endeavor to help the youth gain a deeper understanding and contemplation of the Qur'an's verses and the coherence of its surahs.
