The author states: I began teaching at the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan after obtaining my doctorate in 1980. Among the subjects assigned to me was 'Prophetic Guidance in Etiquette and Heart-Softening Narrations,' a course newly introduced by the faculty that did not exist in any other Sharia college in the world, and no one had taught it before. I could not find a prescribed textbook or a curriculum to rely on. Therefore, I decided to select a collection of hadiths on heart-softening narrations from Sahih al-Bukhari and another collection of hadiths on etiquette from Sahih Muslim. I taught the course for several years until I felt it had matured. Then, Allah Almighty made it easy for me to write a simplified explanation of twenty-one hadiths on heart-softening narrations under the title (Prophetic Guidance in Heart-Softening Narrations).
