He crafts a critical composition aimed at exploring various issues: homeland, the occupied other, punishment and reward, values and ideals, sorrow and solitude, memories and repercussions. Collectively, these are discourses or messages where the novelist outlines his perception of his self in relation to writing, thus emphasizing the significance of the act of writing itself. The persistence for experimentation becomes a strong demand, highlighting a focus on the self. The story's hero is likened to a tedious film, with sorrow as the main protagonist enduring till the end. Happiness is portrayed as a poor child appearing briefly in a white dress. My tale was a mix of sorrow, pain, orphanhood, and deprivation, sprinkled with insufficient happiness to bear any flavor.

The work is distinguished by a realistic vision tinged with romantic emotions and tragic dimensions, reflecting signs of loss and deprivation for the hero's individual reality. This mirrors the paradox manifested in the dominance of fear imposed by the backdrop of Kuwait's 1990s invasion and the loss of his father, "Dawood Abdulaziz," who died a martyr defending his country. Here, the narrative's complexity intensifies through the threads of an emotional scene characterized by resistance, rejection, and pride, guiding the behavior of the aggressor. The hero's self-awareness swells with frustration, leading to despair and insignificance, especially after his mother's passing. "Prisoner of Mirrors" is more than letters or scattered tales; it's an excavation into memory, capturing the diversity and captivating backstage of Kuwait’s rich tapestry. Alsanousi weaves a dilemma intertwining the social-psychological with the cultural-cognitive of his country's history, revealing between the lines the struggle of hope and despair, the pinnacle of romantic love in its purest form, and viewing the world solely through "the eyes of the heart."
