In this book, you will find a detailed description of the Positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy protocol within a set of eight sessions in Chapter Four. Fredrike developed this approach in collaboration with her colleague Forough Jafari from Azad University in Tehran. In Chapter Five, you will find a description of Karen's case, hoping to provide a tangible picture of what Positive CBT entails. In Chapter Six, we have included the 12 most frequently asked questions and our answers to questions such as, "What if the client has no goal?" and, "Isn't CBT a little problem-phobic?".
The appendices contain two workbooks for clients: one for individuals and one for groups. As a buyer of this book, you can also use these exercises in your practice as long as you respect our property rights. We preferred to refer to conventional CBT as "traditional" rather than "negative" as a colleague suggested, and we also replaced the term "patient" with "client".
To use Positive CBT correctly, you must consider the following: It is important to read the entire protocol before starting treatment with your client or group. It is also helpful to read the description of the exercises and homework suggestions before any session, and it is advisable to look at the client workbook. The client workbook is available in Appendices 1 and 2, and therapists can download it for use in their practice.
