The Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games are set in the Galar region, a place with varied landscapes including peaceful rural areas, modern cities, dense forests, and rugged snow-capped mountains. In Galar, both people and Pokémon work in harmony to foster regional industries. Aspiring Champions can explore numerous Gyms within Galar on their journey, accompanied by a new Pokémon partner they select at the start. The adventure kicks off in Pokémon Sword and Shield, as players pick one of three début Pokémon—Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble. Grookey, the Chimp Pokémon of Grass type, is playful and immensely curious. Scorbunny, the energetic Fire type Rabbit Pokémon, is constantly on the move. The Water type Water Lizard Pokémon, Sobble, launches attacks while concealing itself in water.
