About the book: They heard that the government had purchased land from the town of Dura in the Al-Fawwar area to hand over to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to build a camp for them and others like them. They moved there with many families from the villages of the Hebron governorate, finding tents erected to welcome them. They received a large, three-poled tent and became residents of a refugee camp called Al-Fawwar Camp.

The area designated for the camp seemed vast, surrounded by green mountains and fresh springs. It begins and ends with water: in the north, at the entrance of the camp on the Hebron-Dhahiriya road, are the springs of Al-Hijra, Al-Dilba, and Al-Majnuna, which supply people with fresh water and irrigate vegetable plots. In the south lies the Al-Fawwar spring, with a stream flowing between it and the Al-Hijra spring that fills with water, especially in winter and spring.

To the northwest, the camp is bordered by the ruins of Khirbet Al-Hadab and Khirbet Deir Razih. To the south, beyond the Al-Fawwar spring, are the vineyards of the villages of Al-Rihiya and Batta, surrounded by solid, colored rocks. And to the west, the mountains of Hebron are covered with greenery and forests.
