About the Book

In this book, the author addresses the fates of Palestinians by viewing their homeland from a distance, with a perspective of nostalgia for what was joyful and preserved human dignity. It also looks closely at the alternatives that impose their dominance on their lives and the lives of their children, fueling this nostalgia. Although it takes Palestinian identity as the subject of the study, it does not delve deeply into the details of the Palestinian living in their country, even as the country suffers under a brutal occupation that counts their breaths and confiscates everything that would foster a sense of security. It is a study that deals with the image of the homeland from afar, and how its image is elevated when diaspora countries try to undermine the Palestinian identity, whether by treating them as expatriates who do not enjoy the same rights as citizens of those countries, or by granting them full citizenship rights as happens in Western countries that do not tie a person to their origin. It is, therefore, a matter of existence; even if this existence is physically remote, it is present in Palestine as a spirit when the air in exile becomes scarce.
