This book has a story that goes back to the last year of the century. Eight years had passed since the absence of Nizar Muruwwah. I discussed with Muhammad Dakroub the possibility of revisiting Nizar's heritage and selecting samples of his writings on music and literary and artistic criticism. We decided to start working. Muhammad Dakroub volunteered to take care of the first book dedicated to Nizar's writings on music, with the second book to be prepared later. The first book was published under the title "On Lebanese-Arab Music and the Rahbani Lyrical Theatre" with an introduction by Muhammad Dakroub. When it recently became difficult for Dakroub to prepare the second book in the same excellent manner as the first, I took it upon myself to handle it in my own way, without any experience in this type of work. I reviewed the writings we had collected from Nizar. I delved into reading them, article after article, on thought, music, literature, and art. In reality, my selection of articles is in itself an expression of my perspective on Nizar's legacy. Meaning, I took from those articles what I saw as an expression of Nizar's personality, his thought, and the direction he chose for himself in thought, literature, and art. I carefully and meticulously chose these specific articles over others, not because what I omitted is not worthy of attention, but because what I chose constitutes, in my view, the best expression of Nizar's positions on the topics he addressed in his writings. This is, honestly, the story of this book from beginning to end. I hope that I have fulfilled some of the duty of loyalty to this wonderful intellectual named Nizar Muruwwah. I am confident that the reader will find in this book more of what they want to know about Nizar, in addition to what the first book presented about him.
