Our world today is characterized by rapid developments in all economic, social, technological, and political fields. These developments are accompanied by vast and amazing progress in the world of communications, resulting in global performance development at the level of individuals, groups, and institutions. Therefore, it has become imperative for governments, institutions, and individuals to secure their various interests in all fields of life. Securing these interests requires understandings and reciprocal agreements between the relevant parties, achieved through negotiations between stakeholders, whether at the level of states, blocs, organizations, or between groups or individuals.
Life in all its aspects is a series of negotiation situations. Nations and governments negotiate, institutions and organizations negotiate, and workers negotiate through their union representation with employers. Various organizations exert pressure on governments to improve working conditions and increase wages. Spouses negotiate with each other, and parents negotiate with their children. You negotiate with a seller to buy a commodity. Thus, our life has become a series of negotiations at home, in the street, between organizations and management, in buying and selling, in investment, and in political and military relations.
On this basis, negotiation has become the only possible outlet to address any problem or issue and reach a solution. Each party to a negotiation has a certain degree of authority and power, but no single party possesses all the power to impose its will on the other. Therefore, negotiation becomes the only means for the parties to reach a mutually convincing solution.
