The novel in the Arabian Gulf has made significant strides in creating a creative landscape that expresses the identity of women in the region. This study delves into the works of twelve female novelists: Badriah Al-Bishr, Buthaina Al-Issa, Bashayer Muhammad, Raja'a Alem, Samar Al-Qarn, Maryam Al Saad, Maryam Masoud Al-Shehhi, Munira Sawar, Mais Al-Othman, Fatima Al-Shidi, Fatima Al-Mazrouei, and Huda Awaji. The book explores female identity as it navigates the fictional world to articulate its sense of self and its perspective on the life of a Gulf woman. The theoretical framework is crucial for understanding the texts, tracing the 'narrating femininity' through its conflicts with society, the body, the external world, and patriarchal authority—in both its oppressive and desired forms. The Gulf female imagination has produced a wealth of rich, imagined narratives, allowing for a fresh analysis that connects theory and practice, moving beyond conventional and uninspired readings.
