Samir Amin experienced critical milestones in the history of the Arab world: he was still a student in Paris when the Arab setback and the Nakba of 1948, which led to the occupation of Palestine, occurred. He then witnessed the defeat of 1967 and its serious repercussions on the fate of the entire Arab world, marking the beginning of the collapse of the Arab political and unification project. Later, he witnessed the events of September 11 and their impacts, from which the Arabs paid a heavy price, with the fall of Baghdad as one of its direct results and signs of the 'death' of the Arab future in the aftermath of the New York events.
