This book is a study of a rare manuscript titled "Musayyar al-Tarikh" (The Course of History), authored by Abu al-Qasim Ali ibn Munjib ibn Sulayman, famously known as Ibn al-Sayrafi al-Misri.

The author defines "Musayyar al-Tarikh" as a concise history that records the names of the caliphs, their kunyas, lineages, mothers' names, the dates and durations of their reigns, their dates of death, and the names of their scribes, chamberlains, the inscriptions on their seals, and the names of heirs-apparent who never came to power, as well as other claimants and their affairs.

Ibn al-Sayrafi compiled in his book the pillars of Islamic history, commencing with the blessed biography of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), followed by the history of the Caliphs, and the reigns of kings and princes. He arranged it chronologically from the time of the Prophet (PBUH) to the year 550 AH and beyond the death of the vizier Tala'i' ibn Ruzzik. His history is not limited to biographies but also includes significant events of his time and before.

Due to the importance of this manuscript, Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman Saad Al Saad undertook its meticulous research and editing. He compared the text with works by historians who preceded Ibn al-Sayrafi, such as al-Mas'udi, al-Quda'i, and al-Tabari, as well as with those who came after him. He also provided references for Quranic verses, explained terminology, and standardized the text according to modern orthographic rules, fulfilling the requirements of rigorous academic research. The result is a book rare in its information and rich in its ideas, essential for every Muslim today.
